As the group recovered from their battle, Alex used his magic to extinguish the fires while Telloria examined the Spellweb. She was able to deduce that the souls trapped within the web could be used to access the abilities of those within, as well as power ones own powers and spells. Alex examined the partially destroyed spell book, noticing that the cover was made of rat skin. Janice, drawn to the web, examined it, a look of pure rapture on her face as she realized each gem held the soul of a very powerful hero. Alex, drawing on the knowledge Morganna left him, and examining the remnants of the spell book, was certain he knew how to destroy the web and free the souls, but looked for a second opinion from Janice (Valkyrie being their resident expert on souls). Upon further examination of the web and the spell book, Janice also did figure how she could build a Spellweb of her own back in New York. Janice explained two options destroy the web and free the souls, or keep the web standing, and use it to assist the group, offering to attune herself to the web to help. Teri, Noonien, and Telloria, supported by Doug and Paul, pushed to free the souls and destroy the web, while Janice concealed the remnants of the spell book. Alex then destroyed the web, freeing the souls, Janice and Telloria seeing the freed spirits head towards The Hall of Bones.
The group left the cave and climbed back down, Noonien spotting a single daisy blooming along the cliff face, pointing it out to everyone. Several examined it to verify the flower was real. Teri, considering it a good luck talisman, picked the flower. The group then continued onwards towards the Hall.
After traveling a few more hours, a incredibly loud roar was heard in the distance, heading towards the group. Teri flew up and witnessed the beholder making its way towards the group.
The party took cover in a nearby gully, Telloria gathering a pile of sharp stone at Alex’s request before she slipped into stealth. A battle then ensued, where all physical and magical attacks were unable to affect the creature. On a whim, Paul grabbed the flower from Teri and hit the beholder with it which did a ‘Wicked Witch of the West’ and melted. As it died, the river in the gully began to return and as everyone quickly climbed form the gully, grass and trees began to grow and the clouds parted revealing the sun.
After several more hours Travel, the party reached the 35’ wide, 500 yd long arching bridge that connected to the several miles high mesa upon which the Hall of Bones stood. Noonien and Telloria stepped out onto the bridge, making their way across, followed by the rest. A third of the way across, the bridge began to shake and shimmy, causing the group to run. Everyone made it across except Telloria, who had the bridge fall out from beneath her (elven) feet. Teri leapt to grab Telloria, keeping her from falling.
The group looked for an entrance, discovering a portcullis, as cows (3) were flung at the group, the flesh beginning to dissolve as they landed. Teri looked at them and shouted, “A Rawhead and Bloody Bones, here? Really?” A battle then ensued during which Doug popped like a ballon (literally). The Rawhead collapsed into a pile of bones, leaving behind a large iron key.
Using the key, the group entered the Hall, the corridor ending at a door. Telloria examined the door finding no traps and unlocking the door which Paul then opened. The door opened on a square room with three doors, one in each wall, and a rotating bronze sphere with a slot in its top sitting upon a stone pillar. Opening the door revealed an identical room to the open the group stood in. The door closed behind the group and they heard gears grinding and felt the room move. Paul then on a whim, inserted the coin the fountain spit out into the sphere to no avail. Telloria did the same with one of the gold coins she earned mailbox dancing, which caused the door in the front wall to vanish and mouth to appear asking “Greetings travellers, where do you wish to go?” Asking for the main chamber the mouth responded with “The Main Chamber is inaccessible at this time.”Janice asked for the Library, and the mouth vanished and the door reappeared opened, and revealed a Library.
Searching the shelves, Telloria saw all writing in Darnassian, and found a book on the History of Azeroth, covering from the creation up through and beyond the time she left Azeroth. Janice, seeing everything in Nordic runes, looked for a book on The HAll of Bones, but found nothing. While Teri sulked in a comfortable chair, Noonien hit her with a soft pillow. Searching the desks, Telloria discovered a ball point pen, and took it. Teri threatened to doodle on books with the pen ifs he person responsible didn’t show themselves, and when she went to cry out the threat, pressing the button for the point, it became a bronze greek style sword, which did not look cartoon. Teri handed this blade to Noonien, who pressed the button which turned it back into a pen. Searching the shelves looking for a secret door, Janice discovered one, a book titled Greed, that opened a secret door. The door revealed a large slide, which Janice leaped upon, followed by Telloria. Sliding faster and faster down the two realized they were sliding on oil which suddenly was alight. The flames went up to the slide.
At the bottom of the slide, Telloria and Janice discovered a room with a 10′×0′ river flowing from left to right in mid air through the wall, complete with blind cave fish. Meanwhile, Alex threw together a Thaumaturgy to make Paul immune to fire, who went down to join the girls. Alex, obsessed with the calculations of doing this, and not about the consequences, sent the fire boiling down the slide. The fire hit the river and filled the room with steam and cooked several of the blind cave fish. Noonien took the slide immediately, falling through a warped hole in the slide and landing on the floor. Flying down carrying Uni and Silvermist
, Terri warned the remaining members of the hole. Alex climbed and squirmed his way down the slide to join the rest.
Janice climbed into the river, swimming with the current. Janice began drowning as the river swept her in a complete circle, Teri and Telloria grabbing her as she emerged From the other side. Janice then climbed back up the slide to the Library, while Terri tied empty water bottles to a rope and put them into the river.
Alex then used another Thaumaturgy to give cat formed Telloria gills, who then entered the river and saw nothing in the entire circuit. As Telloria emerged, she saw a ghostly librarian shooshing Teri and Alex. Taking a closer look at the book she was reading, it seemed to have a cover made of human flesh with an eyeball in the center which kept looking around. Frustrated with the situation, Teri knocked a book form one of the top shelves and the librarian retaliated mentally damaging Teri, the book going back to the shelf. At this point, the group decided to leave the library and return to the room with the doors and pedestal.
Inserting another coin, the group requested The Conservatory, which revealed a doorway into a room full of musical instruments and sheet music, along with several large windows which opened onto a lovely Victorian style garden. The left and right walls contained paintings of nature scenes. There were also seven comfortable looking chairs, each with a small table with a glass of wine on it. Noonien walked over to the trombone, and noticed the music stand next to it had the sheet music for “Night on Bald Mountain”. Examining the piano, Telloria saw Sheet Music for “Take Five”. The harp contained sheet music for “Swan Lake”. Each other instrument contained its own sheet music for a different song. Telloria sat down and had the rest sit down as well, including Silvermist.
A ghostly conductor appeared and skied what was everyone’s pleasure. Alex’s shout of “Freebird” received a response of it not being in their repertoire. Teri then requested “Hall of the Mountain King”, which the played. Telloria’s request of “Night on Bald Mountain” during which a portal to a tunnel appeared in the main window, with a light at its end.
Noonien stepped through and waved to everyone, Telloria joining him, followed by the rest, except Teri, who asked the Conductor where it went and he informed her it went to Bald Mountain. Teri followed the group last, reluctantly.
As the music ended the group emerged form the tunnel onto. Ledge before a Humongous cave entrance. Behind them they could see the Hall of Bones lying in the midst of a luscious forest.
Telloria and Alex stealthed there way into the tunnel. About 100 feet in, Alex recognized the smell of Dragon. Several hundred feet more the two came upon the skeleton of a small bird (perhaps a thrush) and a small man with gold ring on his left hand. The skeletons of 12 small but large men were found several hundred yards farther on. Farther on, the two heard loud snoring, then turning a corner, came upon the form of a humongous sleeping dragon, lying atop its pile of treasure within a finely crafted Dwarven Hall. The two then returned to the group and filled them in on what they found.
