David is the only child of Evelyn Lyton and Charles Lyton Jr. Born rich and descended from Royalty, his grandmother was the daughter of the Shah of Lugash who was deposed in the early sixties. Goodhearted but spoiled David enjoyed the best of everything until his late teens.
The family’s good fortune seemed to dry up just after the “Pink Panther,” an enormous pink diamond that the family owned, was stolen from the New York State Museum. The family had lent it there for the museum’s annual Gem show. Caught short in the Stock Market Crash the family lost their shirts. To compound disaster with tragedy David’s father died in violent subway explosion that collapsed part of Wall Street. His mother, never a stable individual, died of a mix of alcohol and anti-depressants. Little was left for the former child of privilege except a small savings account earmarked for his college education.
College did not agree with David. His upbringing and shock from the loss of his parents sent him into a spiral of partying that disabled any scholarly skills he might have had. Popular with the coeds and the other party people he ran through his money. Nearing the end of his sophomore year at CUNY LI he was faced with the depletion of his cash and the likely hood of his expulsion for bad grades.

Grandson of royalty, child of Wealth, David Lyton lived the high life among the elite of Nw York. Shortly after the Family heirloom, the gem known as the pink panther, was stolen from a Gem show that it had been loaned to his family’s fortune was lost in the stockmarket. His father died in an accident soon after and his mother succumbed to cancer shortly thereafter. All he had left was the secret journal his grandfather had left of his life as the jewel thief known as the Phantom.

while living at college on the little money left of the family fortune and some financial aid, david faced loss of the college party lifestyle that was his only consolation after his parents death. At the college he met Robert MacDougle, a protoge of his grandfathers who looked to recruit David for a heist at the colleges museum. Remembering his grandfathers adventures David agreed and the two robbed the museum with none the wiser. David found in himself talents for getting into and out of unexpected places. MacDougle agreed to train him in the ways of the modern thief.*
David was hired by a short, old and angry man to steal an Egyptian tablet from the Natural History Museum. He made arrangements with people he knew to get the necessary tools and information to do the job. David was surprised when he entered at night and found the statuary in the place had come to life. Managing to grab the artifact David fled into the night chased by animated suits of armor. He Fled into a book store named “Flame of Knowledge” run by V.S Ramachandran who blocked the armor using a wall of fire. Informing David that the tablet was the cause and that if David didn’t return it David would be cursed forever. In a panic David fled back to the museam. Running into Jane Blue, a federal agent who he had run into before, David convinced her to run interference with the cops while David returned the Statue. After returning the tablet David learned that his employer had died from a heart attack.
To impress a college girlfriend David gave her an ancient amulet he has stolen as part of a job targeting another item. After a week she returned it to him saying the item was haunted. Bemused David took it back, later an unknown female, introduced to him by Professor Charles Fisher, somehow charmed it out of him with promises she never kept.
While meeting an employer in central park, a tall man in a trench coat, David and his employer are attacked by thugs who turn into huge green monsters who. David’s employer throws off his cloak revealing himself to be a goat like creature and proceeds to fight back with great skill and power. Desperate David fights free and escapes while calling 911. Meeting a federal agent, Jane Louise Blue, David babbles out a story of having been attacked in central park and flees into the night.
